Description

Spanish Language Course & Tango lessons (20 lessons Spanish & 4 lessons Tango) in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The group Spanish programme consists of 20 language lessons each week in the mornings, Monday to Friday. Your Tango classes then take place in the afternoons, with 2 private and 2 group lesson each week.

Tango classes take place in an elegant old salon in the Barrio Norte district of Buenos Aires. Students need to take a short tube to get to the dance school, and the nearest underground station is Metro Callao The salon itself is considered a place of touristic interest and the tango teachers, Mayoral and Elsa María, are well-renowned citizens of Buenos Aires and considered to be some of the city's best dancers. They have worked four seasons in Broadway in plays such as 'Tango Argentino' and 'Forever Tango', and they have also won the 'Tony Awards' for best choreography.

There are many tango-related activities for students to enjoy in Buenos Aires outside class. The Carlos Gardel Museum in the Abasto area is a beautiful house where Carlos Gardel once lived and where various tango events take place. There are also many restaurants catering to tango lovers where you can enjoy some traditional Argentinian food alongside a wonderful display of tango (singing and/or dancing): one of the best is 'Señor Tango', where you are treated to a full show of typical Argentinean singing and dancing. On Sundays, the Dorrego Square in the San Telmo area is a popular place to visit not only for its antiques market but also to watch couples gathering to dance in the square and in the street. This is a great form of free entertainment where people can appreciate how to dance tango and see how it has changed over the years from its roots to present day.

Recently the school opened new premises in addition to their building in the one of the capital's most famous and interesting neighbourhoods, Recoleta. They use extra premises during high season or busier months all of which are close to the newly refurbished main building. It is a safe and clean area and the building is just 6 blocks from the Subte (underground) station Pueyrredon, with colectivos (buses) on the doorstep and numerous services, shops and entertainment nearby. It is an easy 10-15 underground ride to the centre of Buenos Aires. The school itself is spacious and comfortable, with beautiful decoration from the beginning of the century including sophisticated marble stairs and handmade floor mosaics. Over 3 floors it boasts excellent facilities including 20 classrooms, 6 restrooms, several common areas, a kitchen, inside patio, inside and outside balconies, a large roof terrace (capacity 150) and internet connection.
